Frequently asked questions

Who is behind Valo?

Valo is made up of Laura and Rohan, an Auckland based couple. Laura is our photographer and Rohan our videographer. More about us here.

Can you pencil hold my date?

We handle all bookings on a first come, first served basis. We collect a 20% deposit to secure the booking, so we can't pencil in a date.

When is the final balance due?

The final balance is due 2 weeks prior to the wedding day.

Can we meet you before booking?

It’s important we get to know each other a bit before your wedding. We can organise to have a video call or a phone chat to discuss your plans.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes! We're happy to travel just about anywhere in New Zealand & the world. We do charge a travel fee to cover expenses but we keep this to a minimum.

Do you shoot destination weddings and elopements?

Yes, we do! We love travelling to different countries and experiencing different cultures so please don't hesitate to get in touch and we can customise a package for you.

How many wedding photos do we receive?

The amount of photos depends on the package you've chosen. There's no cap on the amount of photos you'll receive, we'll be sure to include all the good ones!

When will we receive our photos?

Good things take time. We put great care into how we edit our photos and during the busy summer months the photos may take up to 12 weeks. However, we try our best to deliver the photos within a shorter time frame. Within a week after your big day, we'll give you a little sneak preview that includes around 20-30 web resolution images that you can share with family and friends and on social media.

How are the photos delivered?

Your photos will be hosted on an online gallery from where you can download them in high resolution for yourself. You are free to print these photos as many times as you like.

Do you watermark our photos?

No.

Do you use a second shooter?

We prefer keeping things simple and discreet, and one photographer/videographer is usually ideal for a wedding. However, depending on the schedule and coverage required we can add a second shooter for an additional cost.

Do we need to provide a shot list?

We will take care of documenting all the important parts and details of your day. If you have any specific ideas, we're always happy to hear these and see how we can accommodate for them. The only actual shot list we may need is for the group photos. However, it'd be great if you can organise a family member to gather people together for each shot, so that we can get these done efficiently. We recommend allocating 3-5 minutes for each group photo as this will allow us enough time to gather the people and pose them for the photos.

Do you offer prints or albums?

We do! We offer beautiful custom made high quality albums and a variety of print options. Let us know if you are interested and we can give you more information.

What is your style of videography?

Our wedding highlights films are meant to be engaging, powerful, fun and emotional. On top of this, we emphasise heavily on the cinematic element. On the day, our filming style is very discreet, we don't pose or have a script for the day. We have a very minimalistic approach and don't bring masses of equipment. We don't like to draw attention to ourselves and our minimalistic approach means that guests almost never realise that there is a wedding videographer present. This helps us capture the natural moments. Our edits always include narrative audio from the day, which helps us craft personalised and unique wedding films.

How is the video delivered?

We will provide you with a link to an online showcase page with your wedding video on it. This will make it very easy to share your film with friends and family. You will also receive full HD digital files to download.

What if it rains?

No problem! We always have a backup plan or two if it does rain. However, we recommend you have a nice-looking umbrella or two handy and embrace the open skies – rain makes for beautiful shots!

Do we need to organise a hot meal for you?

After a long day shooting, we get pretty hungry so this would be very much appreciated. We don't need anything fancy though and are happy to find a quiet corner to have a quick bite before jumping back into it.

Did we miss something?

Just get in touch and we will be more than happy to answer your question.
