Our good friends Patrick and Mary wanted to do something different for their wedding. These adventurous souls spend every second of their free time outdoors spearfishing, kayaking and camping in remote places so it was only appropriate that these ingredients were incorporated into their wedding day. The two stumbled upon this special spot at Davies Bay years ago while on a camping trip in the Whangarei Heads and fell in love with the place instantly. Since then they've returned many times. There was absolutely no question about where they'd hold their wedding ceremony.

The guests arrived at Davies Bay the day before to set up camp in a spot that was specially reserved for them. The evening before the wedding was spent enjoying a delicious feast that everyone had contributed to. Patrick's best man, an experienced fisherman, went for a night fishing trip and returned with a bucketful of crayfish to save for the wedding feast. The next morning friends and family helped prepare the spot for the wedding celebrations.

Mary had gathered all the florals (apart from her wedding bouquet) months before the wedding to use for the table setup and the ceremony arch which their stylist came to set up on the morning of the wedding. The Easter weekend provided a beautiful sunny day which kept everyone warm until late at night. The wedding celebrations ended with a beach bonfire singsong and fireworks – of course.
