The Hunting Lodge New Zealand wedding video

The Hunting Lodge, Waimauku

Josh & Lisa had to postpone their wedding for a year due to Covid restrictions in New Zealand. Although they were officially married on their original date, they still decided to celebrate at the Hunting Lodge with their New Zealand family and friends. Both their parents couldn't attend as they reside in South Korea and for this reason Lisa and Josh wanted their Hunting Lodge wedding video to really capture the essence of the day.

Lisa planned the wedding to be a bit more laid back due to it being more intimate than originally planned. During our initial video call, we decided that it would be a great idea if they could find accomodation closer to the venue which would make it easier for them to travel to the Hunting Lodge (and avoid highly probable Auckland traffic!). They booked the spectacular Hu's Art Farm in Riverhead for their morning prep. It's a beautiful venue set amongst the Riverhead pines and a sprawling private farm. Josh and Lisa wanted a first look before the ceremony so once the photographers arrived (Aimee from Frank and Peggy) they whisked the two of them off for some photos after which we headed to the Riverhead forest to get the bridal party photos. Lisa & Josh wanted their Hunting Lodge wedding to be about their guests and get the formalities out the way early meant they could spend as much time with them as possible.

The ceremony was beautiful with Josh and Lisa walking in together and Lisa's best friend played the harp which definitely had people shedding a few tears. We headed to the reception, which was set up at the barn and styled by Leaf & Honey where the guests enjoyed the canapés. Aimee took Lisa & Josh for a quick sunset shoot just across the Hunting Lodge (it was one of the prettiest sunsets I've seen) and I used these shots to open their Hunting lodge wedding video. As a New Zealand wedding videographer, I always let the photographer take control of the portrait session which I believe are really important for both the couple and the photographer. My approach is to be an observer and I usually make the decision fairly early on if I will be there for the entire session or if I should leave the couple and spend time with the guests. In this instance I decided to stay for a bit especially as Lisa & Josh were so comfortable in front of Aimee's camera.

As we headed back to the Hunting lodge, the barn looked dreamy and so beautifully styled. Speeches were followed by dinner and the most amazing assortment of cakes and treats I've seen in a long time.

Kind words

"Hi Rohan,

As usual it's me getting back to you, and as always, it's taken me a couple of days to get back to you haha.

Firstly, thank you so much for making the whole process so easy for us. You were literally the easiest vendor to deal with, being super responsive, professional, organised, proactive and always willing to go the extra mile. You did everything that a Bridezilla, let alone any client or person could ask for. You went to the venue to familiarise yourself, spoke to our Event Coordinator and introduced yourself to our photographers. You arrived super early, stayed longer than you needed to, kept us laughing and entertained and got along with everyone in the Bridal party, other vendors and even some of our guests (?) on the day. To top it off, this is all over and above your technical skills which I already knew about before we got in touch with you ;). Please send our thanks to Laura too and apologies we didn't get a chance to talk to her on the day x

I was reminiscing when I was looking for a Videographer back in January - February. I was in despair when I couldn't find the perfect Videographer until I came across you guys on the Curator website. All I can say is that I am so lucky and blessed to have found you guys as I don't think I could have found anyone better. I'll put a review on google soon. Let me know if there is anywhere else I can leave a review as I would give you 10 stars if I could!

Now, the video. WE ARE ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH IT!!! Me and Josh watched it a million times already, together and separately, and we can't thank you enough for documenting our day so beautifully. The music, the lighting, the moments you've captured are just amazing. We've sent it to our family and showed it to a couple of friends and everybody looooves the video. They've said that the video is very romantic, beautiful, magical, like a film/movie/music video/fairy tale. I can't wait to share the video on Facebook

Looking forward to receiving the speeches and ceremony film, but no rush. We will probably be watching the highlight video daily til then anyways"
